Plotting a Course
In this creative journey one of the biggest questions I found myself asking was "Where do I begin?". It became a huge question considering there are so many options and methods that uncovering the best one for me seemed impossible. Do I start at the beginning? Do I define where I am at now and work from there? Do I limit it to just learning and practice… or do I need more?
How do I find a path for me to grow, to discover, to find meaning, to be creative, and be sustainable?
First, it became important that I understand there is no end point to this creative journey. It is a journey of building roads to travel and a map to fill. I want to be creative, but I want to improve my skills. I need to experience things to generate ideas, but I also need to stay focused and produce work. I have a very busy schedule so I need a map that can be forgiving, but gently reminds me there are rituals to complete. The map should reflect my energy, time, and preferred rituals.
So, my creative constellation map was born with my reflection tracker highlighting what I would like to accomplish in the way of learning, practice, and reflection. Progress shows up as lit nodes when weekly and monthly rituals are completed. Please understand that you need to be kind to yourself and that there will be weeks where your tracker is not fully lit .... that is ok.

I will offer more discussions about the constellation map in the future. I can say that when I show where I feel I have 'lit' up my sky this week, it feels as though I was very close.

The struggle of finding our way in life is undeniably real. I am grateful for the focus and the realization that everyone's path needs to be created, not copied. We have goals, but they are always evolving. Create your map and know that it is your map to follow.
